News from Home Affairs: Additional documents required

This month it has come to our attention that there are changes and news from Home Affairs regarding visa applications.

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) in Pretoria has started to ask for additional documents for visa applications. For work permits the department is now asking for SARS and CIPRO documents of the employer. Home Affairs wants to make sure that the employer is complaint with SARS regulation and registered as a legal company. We recommend therefore, that every work application should accompany with required registration and income tax documents.

There are also news regarding asylum seekers. The Department of Home Affairs in Bellville is now asking for a confirmation letter from the Asylum Committee that an asylum seeker is indeed on a valid asylum seeker status. This will be requested when an asylum seeker wants to apply for a temporary residence permit. So far these requirements will be only requested at the Department in Bellville and not in Cape Town.

Further we want to give the advise that with every spousal or accompanying spouse permit application, bank statements of the SA citizen or PR holder as well as the main applicant is needed. This requirement has been put into action since early 2012.
