If you want to qualify for a skilled worker visa, you must:

  • Work for a UK employer that’s been approved by the Home Office
  • Have a certificate of sponsorship from your employer with information about the role you’ve been offered in the UK
  • Have a job that’s on the list of eligible occupations
  • Be paid a minimum salary of £38,700 (Updated 28 March 2024)

United Kingdom Skilled Worker Visa Requirements, Forms & Documentation

You must provide the following forms and documents when you apply for a UK work visa:

    • Your certificate of sponsorship’s reference number
    • Proof of your English knowledge
    • A valid passport or other documents that show your identity and nationality
    • Your job title and annual salary
    • Your job’s occupation code
    • The name of your employer and their sponsor licence number

    Additional requirements include:

      • Proof you have sufficient funds to support yourself in the UK.
      • Proof of your relationship with your partner or children if they’re applying with you
      • Your tuberculosis test results if you’re from a listed country
      • A criminal record certificate if you’re working in a particular field
      • A valid ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) certificate if your employer tells you that you need one
      • You can bring your partner and children to the United Kingdom on a skilled work visa. However, you must apply for them separately.

        Partners:

          • Partners must prove that you’ve been in a civil relationship or marriage recognised in the UK.
          • They must also prove that you’ve been living together in a relationship for at least two years when they apply.

          Children:

            • Children 16 years old or older must prove that they live with you.
            • They must provide that they’re not married, in a civil partnership, or have any children.
            • You must financially support your child.

How to Apply for a United Kingdom Skilled Worker Visa

Applications must be submitted online.
You’ll need your fingerprints and photograph taken at a visa application centre.
