Applying for a Mauritius Investment Permit

You can invest in Mauritius and apply for an Occupation Permit (OP), provided you set up a new business or invest in an existing business. You must invest a minimum of US$50 000 in your company to qualify for this Mauritius permit.

An alternative way to qualify for this Mauritius permit is to invest in a start-up deemed innovative by the Economic Development Board of Mauritius or registered with an incubator accredited by the Research and Innovation Council. This type of investment has no cash requirement and is ideal for people who like to be on the cutting edge but don’t have the fortune investing in a start-up usually requires.

Contact IBN Immigration Solutions, and we’ll assign a specialist in Mauritius immigration to oversee your application process. Your consultant starts working for you immediately, as they help you determine precisely which Mauritian permit suits you best.

Note: The Mauritius OP is valid for up to 10 years, after which you can submit renewal applications.

Renewals are at the discretion of Mauritius Immigration.
This Mauritian permit allows for a route to Permanent Residence.

Mauritius Investment Permit Requirements, Forms & Documentation

To qualify for an OP, the following requirements must be met:

The company must be founded and established and must be of the type defined in investors’ applications. In most cases, local trading is required, so it’s a good idea to opt for a domestic company.

You must complete the forms necessary to open a Mauritius bank account and transfer at least US$50 000 or more into the company’s business account.

If you’re starting a business or investing in a start-up in Mauritius, you must submit a comprehensive business plan to the Board of Investment (BOI). The plan should follow a clear structure with clear criteria that are addressed. One of the requirements is that some undertakings should be signed.

The bare minimum you can invest into existing businesses in Mauritius is currently US$50 000. The company must have a turnover of at least 12 million rupees for three consecutive years before you can apply for an investor occupation permit.

Alternatively, you can invest US$25 000 in cash with an additional investment of high-tech equipment to the value of at least US$25 000. The equipment’s value is calculated according to invoices or bills of lading.

The investor OP provides a path to permanent residence.
