Application for a Mozambique Permanent Residence Permit

Three types of visas are part of the application process for a Mozambican permanent residence permit.

Contact IBN Immigration Solutions, and we’ll assign a specialist in Mozambican permanent residence permits to oversee your case. Your immigration specialist will take you through the steps for each visa involved in permanent residence permit applications.

Types of Mozambique Permanent Residence Permits

The three types of Mozambican residence permits include the following:

  1. Precarious residence authorisation
  2. Temporary residence authorisation
  3. Permanent residence

Obtaining a precarious residence permit is the first step in the process. After you’ve renewed the precarious permit five times, you can apply for a temporary residence permit in Mozambique.

After you’ve renewed your temporary residence permit 10 times, you can apply for permanent residence in Mozambique.

Permanent residence permits are valid for only five years. They are, however, renewable for five years at a time.
As you can see, permanent residence in Mozambique doesn’t actually enable you to emigrate permanently to the country.

Note: You can only get a permanent residence permit once you’ve had a temporary residence permit for 10 years.

Mozambique Permanent Residence Permit Costs

The costs for the different types of visas in Mozambique differ due to various causes, including your home country, where you apply for the visa, the type of visa, and its validity.

Applications for simple visas, for instance, tourist visas, are quite cheap, while work and residence visas are more expensive.

Your Mozambican immigration consultant will explain all the applicable fees and expenses related to your visa. The breakdown in fees will show you all the costs, so you can budget accordingly before you apply for your Mozambican permanent residence permit.

How to Apply for a Mozambique Permanent Residence Permit

Now that your immigration consultant has taken you through all the prep work for you to apply for your Mozambican permanent residence permit, you’ll go through the physical steps to submit your application.

You’ve already lived in Mozambique on a temporary residence permit for 10 years, so you are familiar with much of the application process. All that’s left for you to do is:

  1. Compile all the documentation necessary to enable us to pre-complete the application on your behalf
  2. Share your documentation with IBN Immigration Solutions for an in-house quality check and final approval before submission.
  3. Submit your permanent residence permit application to the National Director of Migration in Mozambique

Finally, wait for the decision about your permanent residence permit. Your immigration consultant will give you a realistic turnaround time based on the current situation in Mozambique.

Note: The permanent residence permit doesn’t enable you to emigrate permanently to Mozambique. Talk to your immigration consultant about the options available.
