We’ll take a brief look at short-term and long-term work permits.
Short-term work permit
The length of time you can stay in Mozambique on a Short-Term Work Permit depends on which industry you’re in.
Most industries are given permits for up to 90 days per year.
However, if you’re in the mining, oil, and gas industries, you can get up to 180 days per year.
This is because these industries in Mozambique experience labour shortages and need skilled workers to fill critical jobs.
Long-term work permit
Long-term work permits in Mozambique are valid for up to two years, with an option to renew the permit for a further two years. The mining, oil, and gas industries receive special consideration.
Note: Mozambique immigration works with a quota system.
Companies can only employ a certain percentage of foreign nationals. The smaller the company, the greater the percentage.
