Kenya is surrounded by Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Somalia.
The Embassy of Kenya announced that as from the 1st September 2014 all South African passport holders are now required to apply for business/tourist visa prior to travelling or transiting through Kenya. Previously South Africans passport holders were exempt from the visa requirements when travelling to Kenya for a stay of 30 days or less. The new rule stipulates that South Africans are now required to apply for business/tourist visa before travelling to Kenya. The process takes about 2- 3 working days. Temporary passports are also not accepted for entry into Kenya. Most foreigners can still receive the visa on arrival at the port of entry. However, we encourage all foreign travellers to also apply for business/tourist visa prior to travel.
