Economists are divided on their predictions about the future of the South African Rand (“the Rand”). Whilst some are positive and claim that a recovery should be expected in the value of the Rand, however; some contend that no recovery should be expected in the immediate future, at least for the next 5 years.

Is it possible to travel with my Home Affairs receipt? Having an application of your temporary residence on “pending” or “in process” at the Department of Home Affairs, you are still allowed to travel in and out of South Africa. This is still valid, even though your visa/permit in your passport has expired. As soon as you have submitted your residence application at the Department of Home Affairs and an official has accepted the application and issued you with an “Acknowledgement of Receipt”, you are allowed to enter and exit the Republic.

Department of Home Affairs informs about Unabridged Birth Certificates

Department of Home Affairs informs about Unabridged Birth Certificates The practice of issuing abridged birth certificates will end at 03 March 2013. From 04 March 2013 the Department of Home Affairs will only issue unabridged birth certificates to parents of newborn babies. The amendment bases on the South African Citizenship Amendment Act 2010, which is the peak of the review of Birth and Death Act 1992 and Citizenship Act 1995.
